Question: Dating?

Question:
What should you do when the guy you like is two years older and it is kind of a problem?  I know I'm not suppose to date, but I really don't know what to do.

Answer by Mrs. P.:
We've answered a lot of questions about dating, so I definitely think you should review this answers here.  Yet you sound like you know our answers, but struggle with what to do now.  Here are a few more suggestions:

  1. Pray!  Ask the Lord to help you and confess your struggles to Him.
  2. Accountability!  Ask a trustworthy friend to check in on you and hold you accountable to not obsessing over this guy.
  3. Distract Yourself!  Spend more time studying, start a hobby, invest in another person, become a mentor.  In other words, take the time you usually spend thinking about this guy and doing something productive with your time instead.
It is hard.  The feelings are real.  But until marriage, these feelings are best push aside and time is better spent maturing in the Lord and preparing for the rest of your life through multiple friendships with others and life experiences.

Here's a verse that is worthy of attention and prayer, and may help you put your trust in the Lord, even for this struggle you having:

Proverbs 3:5-6 (The Message)

  5-12 Trust God from the bottom of your heart;
   don't try to figure out everything on your own.
Listen for God's voice in everything you do, everywhere you go;
   he's the one who will keep you on track.
Don't assume that you know it all.
   Run to God! Run from evil!
Your body will glow with health,
   your very bones will vibrate with life!
Honor God with everything you own;
   give him the first and the best.
